Dr. Anita Koshy is a Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Immunobiology at the University of Arizona. Her research centers on understanding how the parasite Toxoplasma gondii evades the brain's inflammatory response, allowing it to persist in the brains of humans and rodents. By uncovering these molecular mechanisms, the Koshy lab aims to enhance treatments for toxoplasmosis and explore new approaches to treat brain disorders where inflammation is a key factor, including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke. Dr. Koshy earned her M.D. from Duke University as an HHMI Medical Student Fellow and completed clinical training in Neurology and Infectious Disease. She then conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University, where she developed an in vivo system to track host cells interacting with Toxoplasma gondii.
